And it wasn't too bad.
That said, I underestimated it, or, more accurately, I overestimated my fitness and ability to tackle inclines... Hills got the better of me today.
This is the route I followed (I don't have the ability to import it here... yet): https://www.strava.com/routes/5539302 - 7.5 Miles. Some of it was absolutely lovely - passing Duddingston Loch on the morning commute is really pleasant, and so much of the route I can avoid the roads and stick to cycle paths. I'm really impressed by how much of Edinburgh one can traverse without doing anything more on road than crossing.
Having a change of clothes ready for when I got to the office was definitely required however.
So, aside from my new persuit of cycling to improve my fitness, I've also joined the Edinburgh Hacklab. From their about page - "Edinburgh Hacklab is part of the worldwide movement of Hackerspaces – shared spaces for people who mess around with technology for fun. By creating a shared space to do this, we provide access to better facilities than we could each have at home, as well as opportunities to collaborate, learn, and socialise."
My first wee thing that I've really done with access to the Hacklab is to make use of the 3D Printer, the Ultimaker 2, they bought as a group to print a stand for my work phone - an iPhone 6.
The phone stand I've chosen was this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:654751 - I've not picked it up yet because the print time was roughly ten hours, but I'm hoping to pick it up today some time. Expect another update once I have it, and maybe some photos too!
